how we celebrated st. patrick's day

a few weeks ago, i was browsing some HS websites and found a link to a unit study about st. patrick. so even though i can't claim to be 100 % Irish (about 1/8th i think- and thats the temper)...we had fun learnign a little more about Ireland and st. patrick!!!

we began the day by listening to traditional irish music- thank you Sirius! Mac wasn't too sure about it....but he was just really peeved that noggin wasn't on!! hah!

the result at the end of the day? a somewhat traditional irish feast!! pot roast (wasn't springing for the corned beef) with carrots, boiled cabbage, boiled potatoes, cupcakes, and irish soda bread! YUUUUUMMY! everything except the cupcakes was delicious (i MUST toot my horn here!)...we don't really don't know why the cupcakes were more the texture of hard tak...but we enjoyed the icing!!

the highlight for MAC? the FLUBBER!!!! PLEASE, people i KNOW most of you know what flubber is!!! (i won't mention names RM!)....simple recipe, little time to make, HOURS of fun!!!!
i had to MAKE him put his hand in the goo at first...but he quickly got over it!!

and in case you were wondering where j-doodle was- he was sleeping most of the afternoon (thank heaven!). he celebrated with a festive bib and green beans!!

yeah, he's happy at first!!

LITERALLY, 15 seconds later!!!! i think he got some of the irish temper!!

again LITERALLY, 15 seconds later- all is right in the world!!

j-doodle is four months old today! i can hardly believe it! such a sweet addition to our life!
